Superstar striker Lionel Messi, who was recently named FIFA’s best male player, and his team Inter Miami played a goalless draw against El Salvador in their pre-season friendly. Argentina’s World Cup winning captain Messi was expected to score a goal in this match, but he could not score a single goal.

Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino rested Messi, Suarez, Alba and Sergio Busquets in the second half. Meanwhile, Salvador also got a chance to score in the 83rd minute, but Steven Vazquez could not score. Messi had given the club its first title trophy in the form of League Cup last year.

The Cuscatlán stadium was filled with fans even before the start of the match. El Salvador President Naib Bukele got a chance to meet Messi and hosted the team at the Presidential Palace before the match.
